Currently, G&J, Xante, Technova, Compose System, etc offering this kind of product. The RIP used by these companies are Harlequin, JAWS, Wasatchi. They are using different types of plate, such as PS plate with coating, naked aluminum plate. Ink used also having different types, original Epson ink, sublimation ink, own propriety ink. Some of them also allow their inkjet to print in clear film to replace imagesetter film. All of them are using Epson plotter, from C4880, C7880 to C9880 engine. Using sublimation ink and own propriety ink need to modify the plotter to suit the ink characteristic. By using the aluminum plate, the plotter also need to apply. Because the original plotter is not design for carrying such heavy media, this will cause transport mechanism to wear out much faster than expected. The Epson providing 2880 x 1440 dpi, you can get at higher as 300lpi. However, you have the trade off in output speed. Normally, the output resolution would be 1440 dpi. The highest screening should be around 150lpi. If the customer did not mind the minor morie then 175lpi would be OK. |
